Believing Jesus Week 7: Turning Your World Upside Down

believing jesus week 7

Welcome to Week 7 of the Believing Jesus Bible Study! We have two weeks to go until the end of our study… it’s time to get a little bit wild for Jesus!

Last week we were reminded of our need to be reGospeled over and over again. As humans (just like Martha, Mary, John the Baptist, the disciples, and the early believers), we get off track, make mistakes, get religious and pious in rote activities for God instead of following Jesus in our daily actions where the rubber meets the road, and so much more. We forget who Jesus is and who we are in Him!

This week we get to dig into how this earthly existence is all about Him and how Jesus is worth it all… and I’m so pumped about it! I love what Lisa says and wholeheartedly agree that I want my kids to say about my willingness to share the Gospel without fear:

My mama was wild!

I’m betting you’re with me, right?

Sometimes being a little bit wild is really something wonderful especially if that takes place in a spiritual context. ~ Lisa Harper

Let’s go for it!

If you’re falling behind in your study, or if you’ve missed a week because life is sometimes semi-cuckoo just pick up right where we are! Start our week seven fresh. Don’t forget the study videos will be up for free on Study Gateway until March 15 for those of you who are catching up!

This Week’s Study

We’re now in Session Seven, “Turning Your World Upside Down”.

Your assignments this week:

1. Read Acts 5:17-42, Acts 17:1-9.

2. Watch the video for Week 7 – either on DVD or on StudyGateway (FREE until March 15).

3. Go through the discussion questions for Session 7 in the Believing Jesus Study Guide (pages 146-152)

4. For your personal study this week, answer the questions each day in the Believing Jesus Study Guide (pages 153-165, the light blue section).

Here are Days 1-5 in the study guide:

  • Day 1: The Name of Jesus
  • Day 2: THIS Jesus
  • Day 3: King Jesus
  • Day 4: Those Who Turned the World Upside Down
  • Day 5: We Can Turn Our World Upside Down

5. Recommended (but optional) reading for this week: Read chapter 7, “A Compassionate Compulsion” in Believing Jesus – the paperback companion book, not study guide.

Activity This Week

Step on a few toes this week. Not for the purpose of conflict or just to be rebellious for rebellion’s sake, but for the purpose of showing the Gospel of Jesus to those around us who maybe need to be offended. Get in a little trouble for Him this week! Think and pray about what it would look like for you to step on a few toes for the cause of Christ. Make a list of five ways you could step out in faith this week to boldly share the love of Christ with someone who needs to hear it and experience it.

Love has to be the catalyst! We have to be compelled by compassion. ~ Lisa Harper

Prayer for the Week

Jesus, we want to be wildly brave for You! We’re so thankful to have the stories in Acts in our hands and minds so we can be exhorted and enthused to turn our world upside down! Fill us with passion for Your cause! We love You, King Jesus! Amen.
