Born to Win

Born to Win

Our first birth destined us to lose because we were born into sin.

But because of Jesus’ “nevertheless” decision, because he went to the cross to pay the price for our sin, we have been born again.

You have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. — 1 Peter 1:23

When we are born again, we are born to WIN!

And so, in the victory of Jesus Christ over sin, our eternal victory cannot be stopped. As we run in God’s divine relay, we are running in assured victory. We do not run for victory but in victory. We are part of Christ’s triumphal procession, because Jesus has already won and His Spirit lives in us.

Thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of Him everywhere. — 2 Corinthians 2:14

What an image! As we run, we spread the aroma of God in our every action and interaction, and we will cross the finish line, unstoppable, into the embrace of our eternal Father God.

As you take your place in the body of Christ and run the race you were born to win, you are playing your part in what God is doing on this earth. You are making God and his purposes bigger in your life and more important than the temptation to stay in the comfort of your Christian bubble. You are not falling asleep between the first and second coming of Christ, but instead, you are carrying your baton into our hurting world and so bringing light into the darkest of places.

My dream has been to mobilize you to join in this great divine relay — this relay that started long before you arrived on earth and will last far beyond your days upon this earth. Look around you at what the body of Christ is doing. We are world- changers! Get out of the pew and into your lane. Move into your exchange zone and run with unstoppable perseverance all the way to the finish line.

God has chosen you. Prepared you. Placed you. Now run into your exchange zone, hand outstretched and open, and grasp every baton He brings your way. Discover that not only are you making a difference in the world, but God is making a difference in you. Hand off those batons to others and discover the thrill of seeing God exponentially multiply His work. Inspire your fellow runners to run at their peak through your encouragement and example, and see God’s work multiply all the more. The world will be forever changed because of you.

I believe that as the members of the body of Christ run side by side in His divine relay, we will draw the eyes and the heart of the world to the incalculable love of God and His salvation. Nothing is as unstoppable as the body of Christ working together, loving and serving one another and our lost, hurting, and broken world while eagerly awaiting the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.

My life and yours have been touched by batons carried from generation to generation before us, and we in turn carry the baton of faith forward into our families, our neighborhoods, our schools, and our workplaces. We will carry it to our culture and every culture on this planet. True victory comes with your lifetime commitment to living in the exchange zone, passing on the baton of faith into the life of one, plus one, plus one…

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. — Hebrews 12:1-2

You know what God has called you to do, so run, unstoppable, until the day you cross the finish line and hear the words of your Father,

Well done, good and faithful servant!… Come and share your master’s happiness! — Matthew 25:21

Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. — Hebrews 13:20-21
