Play With Fire: That’s a Wrap!

What an amazing five weeks we’ve had with you all! Now it’s time to look back through our study guides, review what we’ve learned, share with each other about how we’ve been transformed by fire, and celebrate being lit up by the Holy Spirit and the Play with Fire Bible Study with our new friend, Bianca Juárez Olthoff.

Maybe, like me, you started this study in the middle of a fire in your own life and you were crying out for God. Maybe you’ve been through a burning season and have wrestled with the Lord. Maybe you’ve been branded with deep trust that God is who He says He is, even when all seems lost, or seemingly stolen from you, and what remained was purified by fire and of far greater worth now. What did you gain from God? Come share with us!

What was your most important take-away from Play With Fire? For me, the biggest thing I learned is that in fires I tend to wonder where God is. I get afraid and confused and I forget that He is right here with me and, as we said in the very beginning, He’s all about fires.

It’s the manifestation of His presence. It’s the way He purifies and refines. It’s the glory of Pentecost. And, it means He’s changing something… birthing something… reclaiming what’s been fouled up and making it beautiful again. Even in my life today. Even in yours.

It’s God Himself in our lives. Making us new. Making us shine. Refining us until we look just like Him.

He is faithful to transform us in the fire. — Bianca

My fire is still burning. In several ways it’s actually a bigger blaze than it was five weeks ago. But, the thing that has been inescapable is that God is good! In crying out, in surrendering to Him, in burning His promises onto my heart, in leaning into the community of faith, and in opening myself up to the Holy Spirit, I’ve been changed. How about you?

He is the Lord; let Him do what is good in His eyes. — 1 Samuel 3:18

Thank you, Bianca, for Play With Fire… Thank you for sharing your story with us, walking us through the desert with the Israelites, and revealing how God has shown Himself through fire all throughout Scripture.

I want more. Don’t you? More of God, more of His power, His Holy Spirit, His plan for our future? I can’t help but end these five weeks excited about what He’s going to do through all our lives out of this study!

Friends, if you’re still catching up with the videos, all five sessions will be available for one more week. Your last date to watch ALL the videos is Sunday, November 20. If you’re anything like me, you’ll probably binge-watch them all again from start to finish to eke out the most out of Play With Fire! But, maybe there’s a friend you know who needs this study. I encourage you to buy an extra study guide and the DVDs and invited your friend to join you in playing with fire. You won’t regret it!

And, finally, as always, huge thanks to our special friends at FaithGateway and Faith.Full for all your wonderful work through this study. Jaime and Julie, thank you for your TLC of our OBS friends week in and week out. We are grateful for you!

I have treasured the privilege of being your Online Bible Study leader and praying through each week for every participant all over the world.

And, if you haven’t heard already… Max Lucados’ Because of Bethlehem will be our Advent Online Bible Study starting November 27th! Are you ready for the arrival of the King? We hope you’ll join us!

Prayer

God, thank You for Play With Fire. Thank You for filling Bianca with Your Holy Spirit and leading her to write this study through the fires you lit in her own heart and life. We you’re your blessing over her work at A21 and Propel and that You would continue to launch her in Your work of rescuing those trapped in human trafficking. Thank You for the work you’ve done in us during these weeks. We thank You, Father, that we can always cry out to You, that we are safe in surrendering to You, and that Your promises are true. We thank You that You created us to be better together, better sharpening each other shoulder to shoulder. Thank You, Holy Spirit, for filling us with Your presence and directing us to the things that You was have us be and do for Your glory and for Your Kingdom!  We trust in You in the middle of our fires, God, and we love You! Amen and amen!

Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the Church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. — Ephesians 3:20-21
