Things don’t have to get better; we can get better!
While our broken circumstances may not change, we can. – Laura Story
We hope you loved the When God Doesn’t Fix It Bible Study with our friend, Laura Story, as much as our team did!
This morning I simply wasn’t ready to face this ending, so I started back from the beginning and watched the videos over again as I reviewed my notes and study guide. This is a study I would be wise to go through once a year because it’s so important to be reminded that God is rock-solid faithful and worthy of my adoration — even, and maybe especially, during seasons when I’m learning lessons I never wanted to learn.
During those times and the times when we reflect back at His unchanging love, provision, protection, and dependability, the truths about God get engraved upon our hearts and minds and those truths deepen our stability and faith, and the fruit is JOY… even through sorrow!
Thank you, Laura, for sharing your family’s story with us with such openness, vulnerability, and such faith in Christ. Thank you for showing us how to walk through trials and suffering trusting that although God may not fix our circumstances the way we would want Him to, He will never, ever leave us, and He will bring good out of it for those who love Him even if we don’t see that fruit in our lifetime. We learned so much about setting aside our best-made plans, submitting to God’s way in this broken world and clinging to Him in good times and in bad through this study.
Share Your Final Thoughts
What was your most important take-away from When God Doesn’t Fix It? I think for me it was actually two things: having peace in trials and the power of story. I was so moved by Laura’s unruffled calm in sharing her story alongside the stories of some of our Bible heroes in Scripture — exhorting us to keep going and keep rejoicing even when our blessings come through tears.

And, finally, a special thanks to our friends behind-the-scenes at FaithGateway and Faith.Full for all your wonderful work through this study — Julie, our Facebook private group leader, and Jaime, our Thursday live chat moderator. Thank you, ladies, for the TLC you’ve offered every week for our OBS participants!
I’ve truly loved being your Online Bible Study leader and praying for you all through each week and am so looking forward to starting the Unashamed study with Christine Caine August 15th! If you’ve not yet registered, get on it! We hope you’ll join us!

God, thank You for this study. Thank You that You have a greater plan for our lives than we could ever dream up… We place our hope in You, the author and finisher of our faith. We don’t want to lose sight of Your goodness when life goes pear-shaped and when we know that it may not ever get better. We trust that You are with us, and for us. Help us to be unwavering in our praise no matter what happens. Help us to be brave enough to share our stories with those who need to hear it so they can know that there is life and joy after crisis, and that You will be with them as You have been for us. We love You. Amen!
