Challenge of the Week
Technology can be a wonderful thing but it was intended to serve us, not master us. This week look over the list on pages 62-63 of Rest Assured to determine if you are too tethered to technology and your devices. If you flunk the quiz, come up with a game plan for setting better boundaries from your mobile devices. (I outline my plan on pages 67-68 of the book to give you a starting point).
A simple way to determine whether technology has become too excessive is to ask yourself one question: "What do I crave more: to connect with God or to connect online?" The issue boils down to the order of your affection.
The biggest benefit I've experienced from setting boundaries on technology is the peace that I've experienced in my soul. Without the constant distraction, I hear from God more clearly and can spend more uninterrupted and undistracted time with Him throughout my day. In a way, I'm training myself to turn to Him as often I as I used to turn to my gadgets, and, as a result, my spiritual life has been recharged.
