Forgiving What You Can’t Forget Online Bible Study Week Five — The Compounding Effect of Unforgiveness

God helped [Joseph][Joseph] “forget”, or actually let go, of all that troubled him so that it wouldn’t paralyze him in his pain and God helped him be fruitful so he could help others. ~ Lysa

I was just talking about this with my daughter. If we didn’t go through what we’ve gone through, we wouldn’t be where we are. If we didn’t suffer the way that we have, we wouldn’t be where God has led us and we wouldn’t have the hope and joy that we do now… but it was gained and even amplified by walking through the hardship! There’s so much to be thankful for when you look at your life from a different perspective.

A different life can be a great life with forgiveness given freely from your heart even if there is no reconciliation. We just need to let our hurt be used in God’s hands.

Not everything will be fixed in our lifetimes, but that’s alright! God is good and He has good plans for our lives.

Week Five Statement:

It’s hard to be fruitful while we’re holding onto what’s hurtful.

Prayer for the Week

Jesus, we love You! Help us, Lord, not to let any hidden hurt grow. Help us to submit to You in every area of our hearts and deal with the hurt before it becomes hatred. We don’t want to let hate sink into our lives and cause damage not just to us but to those around us. We need Your guidance and Your help. We want to bless others and not curse them, to bring hope and life instead of more suffering. Give us wisdom and direction and grace when we fall short, God. We love You. Amen.
