You're Invited to the 3:16 The Numbers of Hope OBS

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. — John 3:16

The most nefarious, rotten, and yet wildly successful lie the devil ever told is that you and I are not loved.

In truth, we can’t possibly understand the breadth of God’s amazing love or what He’s done for us to secure us forever. It’s overwhelming to consider.

If you ever… ever… feel unloved, just turn to John 3:16 and park there!

Jesus. Loves. You!

That’s why I’m so excited that Max Lucado’s 3:16 The Numbers of Hope is our next Online Bible Study starting March 21!

3:16 is a study of God’s overwhelming, inexplicable, incomprehensible, irrational, never-ending love for us and I didn’t even realize how hungry I am for it. How about you?

The deepest need we have as human beings is to be loved. From the time we are born to the last minute of our lives, we crave-and-don’t-stop-craving being loved. Yet, our world is filled with conflict, war, isolation, divorce, abandonment, and worse. We need the love of Jesus desperately!

So many of the choices we make that damage our lives and those around us are made from a framework of feeling unseen, unknown, overlooked… unloved. We spend our whole lives listening to the constant lies of an enemy who murmurs that we’ve been forgotten by God, or He is angry with us, or He is distant, or that He isn’t at all!

But, God IS love! He doesn’t just feel love, or express love, He IS love!

Jesus loves you!

If we only grasped His tremendous love for us, our whole lives would be different!

Before I knew the love of Jesus as an adult with grown-up problems needing God-sized solutions, my soul was set to permanent panic. Until He settled the question of who would be sovereign in my own life — me or Him — by overwhelming me with His irrefutable, unmatchable, unmistakable love, I felt lost in a sea of fear, confusion, worry, anxiety, and feeling very alone.

Love, in the Person of Jesus, changed (and, mercifully, continues to change) me and my life and He can change you and your life, too.

That is why if we were only capable of memorizing one verse, just one short snippet out of sixty-six books in the Bible, it would undoubtedly be John 3:16. If we could only pack one verse to take with us to a desert island, most would probably bring John 3:16. If there’s a single message Almighty God wants His beloved creation to understand all the way to our marrow of our bones, it’s John 3:16.

No matter where you are in your walk with Jesus, whether a brand new, born-again Christian, or you’ve been in a relationship with Him for years, this is the message for you. We need to be continually reminded of the core of the gospel of Jesus Christ —

He loves us. He came to us. He saved us. He offers eternal life starting right now to all who choose Him!

Doesn’t that just blow your hair back?! It’s not something to take lightly. “Jesus Loves Me” may be the lyrics to a kindergarten song, but it’s the message for us for all of our lives!

It’s the fuel for our days! He loves us! Jesus wants to be our closest friend, our one true God, our only God. He wants to save us from evil, rescue of from the stain of sin and the torture of damnation. His passion is to crush our worthless idols, replace what doesn’t satisfy us with Himself, restore us and fill us with His Spirit, strengthen us, and counsel and help us become as beautiful as He is! Because of His love! AMEN!

Born: God exerts the effort.
Again: God restores the beauty.
