It’s Our Last Week! Because of Bethlehem Week Four

We hope you enjoyed last week’s Advent Practice on seeking the light of Christ! What did the Lord shed light on in your life this past week? What did following the light of Christ require of you, and were you able to find greater light in your darkness? We would love to hear the stories of what God is doing through this study. Come share with us!

This week we’re in our final week, “Every Heart a Manger” and the main message is that the story of Christmas is the story of God’s relentless love for us.

Because of Bethlehem, we can never question His unquenchable affection for us. — Max

  1. Watch the video for Week 4 – Your video is ready for viewing! You can watch it either on DVD or right here on FaithGateway.

  2. If you’re meeting with a small group or in a church setting with others, go through the group discussion and questions for Session 4 in your Because of Bethlehem Study Guide (pages 80-92).
  3. For your individual activity this week, Receive the love of God! See pages 94-99 and set aside some time each day for your Advent Practice.

I pray that from His glorious, unlimited resources He will empower you with inner strength through His Spirit. Then Christ will make His home in your hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. — Ephesians 3:16-19 NLT

And lastly for this week, I encourage you to take a little extra time to remember that Christmas is a love story. In your Advent Practice, I challenge you to find a creative way to demonstrate that you are receiving and accepting God’s love for you. Possibly write Him a love letter, or a poem, or create a drawing or lyrics. And, if you’re comfortable, share them with us on the blog or Facebook group pages!

This Week’s Photo Challenge

We have enjoyed seeing all your photos each week! This week come share your photos that represent the display of God’s love for you. This is a little more abstract, but we know you can be creative! Take a photo and tag it #BecauseofBethlehem on social media this week. We’ll share some of your images on social media and in our wrap-up email on Christmas day!

Prayer for the Week

God, thank You that You love us. That You chose us even though we don’t deserve being chosen. Thank You that You prune us and weed out what isn’t healthy or helpful for Your purposes in our lives. Thank You that You surround us with Your grace. Thank You that You have a plan for our lives and place us when and where we are for a reason. Help us to follow You and trust You. May our heart be Your manger. We love You. Amen.
